About Cherish Bites
Why Cherish Bites was Founded
As students, we sensed a lack of nutritional well-being in the community, from schools to grocery aisles - does there really need to be heaping amounts of saturated fats and refined white flour and sugar in virtually anything we pluck from the shelf? The cupboard? The vending machine? We don't think it's worth stripping food of its nutritional value and throwing in a myriad of unnecessary processed ingredients for the sake of taste. Come to think of it, does that kind of food really taste good? Taste aside, commercial food items have taken part in launching a serious health crisis that includes conditions such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes. With cases that have tripled in the last three decades, diabetes is becoming an increasingly severe health threat that impacts people of all ages and racial groups in the U.S.
Diabetes goes beyond an abnormal blood sugar level reading and comes with a variety of detrimental health consequences such as nerve and kidney damage. In combination with poor lifestyle habits, inadequate nutrition impairs the quality of life of millions of individuals and those around them.
Welcome to Cherish Bites, where we gather nature's gifts, ingredients starring antioxidants and micronutrients galore, and sprinkle in a little of our own magic to present you with something that's delicious! We leave out excess added sugar and saturated fats, using ingredients such as a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and giving you sugar-free options with the safe sweeteners erythritol and monk fruit. With all profits going to the UW Diabetes Research Fund, Cherish Bites aims to promote wellness so that everyone can pursue positivity, challenges, lifestyle goals, and whatever they're seeking.
When you have high school bakers who value nutrition and love to fiddle around with recipes, you've got Cherish Bites: created to nourish, heal, improve, and cherish the community, inside and out—one bite at a time.
